LECTURE AND WRITING FOCUS AREAS INCLUDE

sex, sexuality, pornography, spirituality, the history and aesthetics of erotic art, philosophy of science, GLBT issues, anthroposophy and Rudolf Steiner, animism, pedagogy, anarchism, writing, activism.

FACT SHEET
I’m a writer, teacher, and adult film star, and I’m probably the only person who has won awards for all three areas.  I’m also a sex & culture expert, and the Vice President of the Adult Performer Advocacy Committee, a nonprofit which works to improve quality of life and experiences in the industry of currently working adult performers.  I live in Los Angeles.

I’m the first gay adult film star to speak at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, at their PS1 dome.  I’ve presented at nonprofit organizations, colleges, and independent art spaces across the country, including Amherst College, Bowdoin College, California College of Art & Design, Rudolf Steiner Social Finance, and University of Southern California, just to name a few.  Some testimonials are provided below.

I pursued my MFA in fiction writing at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst – where I also studied organismic and evolutionary biology.

I taught literature, creative writing, and composition for three years at UMASS and also taught at Western New England College. In 2006, I was awarded the Distinguished Teaching Award – the highest honor awarded for teaching at UMASS.

For two years, I was Logo TV’s NewNowNext sex expert. I appeared weekly in their “Ask the Expert” series and answer questions about sex, sexuality, and relationships.

I’ve studied and worked with some of the greatest cutting-edge thinkers of our time, including Lynn Margulis, Fritjof Capra, Robert Anton Wilson, Malidoma Some, Arthur Zajonc, Daniel Pinchbeck, Craig Holdredge, Robert McDermott, Graham Hancock, and more.

I ran a spirituality and science discussion group in San Francisco, with a focus on Rudolf Steiner’s anthroposophy. I also give lectures and write frequently about Steiner and his work.

As one of the most recognizable adult film actors alive, I have appeared in over 100 films and scenes, and was awarded Best Newcomer by GayVN in 2010, and Best Supporting Actor at the Grabbys in 2012.

My writing appears and is featured in/on Vice, Salon.com, The Stranger, Slate.com, The Advocate, The Rumpus, Headmaster Magazine, Andrew Sullivan’s The Dish, Reality Sandwich, Disinformation, The Wild River Review – and anthologies, including Best Sex Writing 2013 (Cleis Press), Best Gay Stories 2012 (Lethe Press), Occupy Consciousness: Essays from the Coming Insurrection (Evolver), Lynn Margulis: Scientific Rebel (Chelsea Green), Exploring the Edge Realms of Consciousness (North Atlantic/Evolver Editions).

Media appearances and interviews include NBC, Breaking the Set on RT, Playboy Radio, Bidoun Magazine, Gay Times Magazine, The Edge, Disnfo podcast, The Duncan Trussel Family Hour, The Sex with Emily Podcast, Gay.com, Cybersocket, Frontiers, Dr. Dick’s Sex Advice, The Mike Bullard Show, Out.com, Queerty, and more.

Testimonials

“Conner Habib is easily one of the most engaging speakers I’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing. The ideas that he brought forward were still being talked about in our Pride Centre weeks afterward, and everyone who came out to see him had nothing but positive things to say. Bravo!”
– Joselyn Plumridge, President of University of Lethbridge PRIDE.

“Conner’s talk gave college students a space to discuss their experiences with sexuality when that conversation is often taboo, even on a university campus. He emphasized the fact that everyone has different preferences and different boundaries and that pushing against those boundaries can be an incomparable learning experience. He offered a great and open dialogue on pornography as a healthy part of sexuality, and he really engaged with his audience. Plus, he was totally hilarious!”

-The Sex Out Loud Staff, University of Wisconsin Madison

Dear Conner, greetings from Europe, where I’m sure you have as many fans as in the US. You’re really something else. I’m a tremendous fan of yours, I find your performances unique in all of gay porn, mainly because you’re so natural and believable and make most other actors seem phony. I love the way you “power-bottom” but always with feeling and grace; I myself definitely prefer that position and it means a lot to have someone like you “out there” (or merely on my computer screen) sending such a positive message. Your blog is fascinating; I’ve read every post and I marvel at your incredible ability in expressing complex (and fleeting, hard to pin down) feelings and thoughts. Carry on the amazing work! Your truly admiring fan, Fred.

    Conner,
I stumbled upon your blog earlier today for the first time and have to admit that, after getting hooked and reading almost a year’s worth of posts, your entries are some of the most well-crafted, honest, and poignant works in any genre I’ve read in a long while. The insight you provide strikes a lot of chords with what it’s really like to be a young gay man, and rings true in ways that nothing else I’ve read has. I must say that, as a young gay undergrad, and without recognizing you from porn (not meant to be depreciatory), I now definitely look up to you, respect your work, and will continue checking back for new entries.

Wow buddy, that means so much – When I was an undergrad, I was freaking out with sexual frustration and would have felt so happy to find someone whose voice lined up with my principles and feelings. What a great compliment, buddy. Thank you!

    Hi Conner,
I still don’t understand what the purpose of your life is.
I cannot find it on your posts so far.
    Please tell me…
It’s very very important for me to know it.
    Thank you.

I read tour article “Rest Stop Confidential” in SALON (march 29,2012). Very existential a la Jean Genet. Your words are as handsome as you.

  10. ted April 17, 2012 at 10:00 pm #

i just finished reading your rest stop essay, and i must say i was very impressed. you expressed feelings i’ve had all my life. i, too, have had endless encounters of this type, as well as in adult movie houses, bath houses, city parks, etc. of course, i’m a much older man than you, so many times these were the only places in town two (or more) men could meet. thank you so much for your intelligent take on this aspect of the sex search. i’ve discussed this with gay friends before and they have always taken a negative slant on it. many times i felt belittled by them. if someone of you status understands and has experienced these chance meetings, i don’t feel so isolated and lonely. by the way, i was an english teacher for 35 years, and i would not hesitate giving you an a+ on your writing. i’ve been a fan of your videos, and now i’m also a fan of your writing. thanks, and keep up the good work!

      Hey there Ted,
Thanks for the kind words – the A+ feels great haha
