What’s inside the box? Conner talking Hellraiser and The Hellbound Heart on the Weird Studies podcast!

13 Apr

In lieu of posting an episode for the week, you can find me talking at length about two of my favorite horror masterpieces on one of my favorite podcasts, Weird Studies!

We talk about Clive Barker’s film, Hellraiser, and the novella it’s based on, The Hellbound Heart.

From the Weird Studies site:

In the 1980s, Clive Barker burst onto the cultural scene with The Books of Blood, collections of unforgettable tales of horror, depravity, and decadence the likes of which had been seldom seen since the days of Lautr√©amont’s Les Chants de Maldoror and Huysmans’ L√†-Bas. In the decades that followed, he went on to create an astounding body of work in fantasy and horror as a writer, artist, and film director. In this episode, author, lecturer, and podcaster Conner Habib joins JF and Phil to discuss what is arguably Barker’s best-known work, the 1987 horror classic Hellraiser, as well as the novella that inspired it, “The Hellbound Heart.”

Listen via the links above, and for more of me in conversation with Phil and JF, here’s our epic two-part conversation on the problems with magick.
