The task for us now is REMAKING EVERYTHING. That’s all!

The world is changing and asking us to change for it so it can change through us.

And since the the entire order of things is being rearranged, nothing is left untouched, not even what we thought were foundational truths of what is beautiful and good in the world.

So we find ourselves needing to re-declare why our moral truths are true. It is no longer a given that we will live in a world without widespread child labor, with human rights, without state-approved murder for any troublesome populations.

The whole is being remade. Beyond even the values above, reality itself is asking us to reconsider our principles – our philosophies, our ontologies and metaphysics – even our own perceptions.

That’s why I’m reposting this episode from the archives with Italian philosopher and writer Federico Campagna. This conversation originally aired in 2022 as AEWCH 198. But in the opening and closings of lockdowns, it got lost in the shuffle of episodes, even though it is one of my very favorites.

Federico’s new book, Otherworlds: Mediterranean Lessons On Escaping History (preorder by clicking through here) will be released in June. But he remains best known for his book Technic and Magic: The Reconstruction of Reality and has also authored the excellent book on prophecy and creation, Prophetic Culture: Recreation for Adolescents. He also hosted the Overmorrow’s Library podcast, which covered mysticism, politics, mythology, philosophy, video-game design and more – my favorite episode was the last one, on which he talked with his six year-old son, Arturo, about children’s books.
