I’ll tell you why I’ve changed things and then I’ll tell you all the cool stuff about it…

WHY DID I CHANGE THE PATREON?

As some of you may know, I’ve struggled to figure out what the right benefit benefits might be to connect with listeners, readers, and everyone.

How to connect with all of you who are interested in my efforts, and do the work I want to do, but also not make Patreon a whole additional job? The job, after all is the writing-podcasting-consultations-offerings.

Another way to say it:

Patreon isn’t a job, it’s connection. That’s how I’ve always seen it.

On top of that I don’t ever want to do shit I genuinely do not like doing or respect or care about. Definitely not under the auspices of “growing an audience“ or getting likes.

I don’t wanna do shit like have a video version of the podcast so that can be excerpted for TikTok, so that people can share it and make their own TikToks out of it and on and on!

I don’t want to spend hours learning new tech just to support a new software initiative so that I can “keep up“!

I don’t want advertisers or sponsors for the podcast, which means me peddling all kinds of junk that I don’t really care about!

All that extra shit feels like creating thought-litter, not offering something real.

So what do I want?

What do I like and how can I base the Patreon and our connection on that? I like books. I like punk rock shows. I like zine aesthetics. I like tarot readings. I like a quality stuff. I like genuine, spiritual practices and real conversation.
So that’s what the patron is now!

ETHERIC TIER: 15.00 USD
Be a part of the AWECH BOOK GROUP!

• Every month, I’ll read a book with you, selected and posted in the first week of that month. These will be very AEWCH books… You know what I mean by that, even if I can’t quite describe it myself. They’ll be spiritual or weird or occult-y or science on the edge-y, or philosophical. They won’t be boring choices.
• At any time during the month, you can send me questions and thoughts about the book either via my email.
• In the meantime, someone else – someone cool or philosophical or weird — just like the books! — will be reading along with us too. Maybe this will just be a friend of mine who doesn’t really have a public life, or maybe it’ll be a former guest, or another writer. At the end of the month, I’ll be posting our conversation in audio format for you to listen to. And I’ll include responses to some of your questions and comments as part of that post.

Of course everyone who signs up for this tier will have different circumstances in their lives, but the reading will take that into account. Each time, I’ll be thinking of all of you. After all, there is a common thread amongst you: You’re into the show and my writing and what I’m up to. So who better to offer a reading to illustrate broad connections?

SPIRIT TIER: 176.00 USD
Once a year, you get the Box of Light!
This is the tier of exchange, of shared light and reaching out to each other through space. To that end when you sign up for this tier, you get

• THE BOX OF LIGHT, a totally individualized package for every member with images, cards, handwritten stuff, handdrawn stuff, merchandise, wearable stuff, books, and more etc. What I promise you is that it will not be lame or insignificant or uninteresting. It will instead feel much more like receiving a gift from a friend.
  This box comes once per year (ie if you’re a member of this tier for two years, you’ll get two boxes), and you must be a member for three months in the continental US, Ireland, and the UK, or 5 months everywhere else to receive it. If you sign up for this tier using the annual option, I’ll send the box within one month of your membership pledge.
